Selena Marie Gomez is an American singer, actress, songwriter, businesswoman, producer, stylist and voice actress of Mexican origin. As an actress, she debuted on the children's series Barney and Friends in 1999. She gained international prominence by starring in the Emmy Award-winning series, Wizards of Waverly Place, shown on Disney Channel, playing Alex Russo. She formed her band Selena Gomez & The Scene, after signing a contract with Hollywood Records in 2008, releasing 3 studio albums, including: Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010) and When the Sun Goes Down (2011), before disbanding in 2012.
