A system app for your smartphone
Main components is a system app that comes with your Android by default. This app contains metadata about the modules on your smartphone, which is updated, analyzed, and stored on your smartphone's memory each time it starts up. Basically, it's how your smartphone knows which modules and apps are installed.
Main components includes ModuleInfoProvider, which integrates two important methods from the PackageManager API: getModuleInfo and getInstalledModules. Both are supported by XML metadata and store this data with the config_defaultModuleMetadataProvider configuration value.
Sometimes, when you want to free up space on your smartphone or reduce RAM, you might delete apps you haven't been using. If you have a rooted smartphone, you can also remove system apps. But if you delete certain apps, such as Main components, your smartphone may stop working. In that case, you'd need to download this app again.
If you've deleted this app by mistake, or simply want to force an update, you can download the APK of Main components here. After that, your smartphone should work normally again, or, if you're just looking to update it, then better than before.
