About Blackmagic Camera

Blackmagic Camera is a professional video app that brings cinema-style controls and cloud collaboration to mobile devices.

Blackmagic Camera brings Blackmagic Design digital film camera tools to Android phones and tablets, as well as other mobile platforms. It focuses on fast control, consistent image processing, and a workflow that connects directly to Blackmagic Cloud and DaVinci Resolve. You can shoot anything from quick social clips to broadcast news and multi-camera events, with options that scale up to 8K when supported by your device. Moreover, live proxy upload of Blackmagic Camera helps editors start cutting while the camera is still rolling.

Blackmagic Camera features

Cinematic controls with clean HUD

Blackmagic Camera places frame rate, shutter control, ISO, white balance, and focus tools one tap away. The heads-up display shows histogram, zebra, false color, focus assist, audio meters, and frame or safe guides. Therefore, you can set exposure, focus, and audio quickly before each take.

Cloud collaboration and live proxy upload

Record originals and lightweight HD proxies at the same time, then upload proxies directly to Blackmagic Cloud as you shoot. Editors can open your project in DaVinci Resolve and see new clips appear during recording. In addition, in-app chat keeps camera teams, editors, and colorists connected.

Remote multicam control and timecode sync

With the Blackmagic Camera app, you can control multiple phones or tablets on the same Wi-Fi network with multiview monitoring. Start and stop all cameras together and lock timecode over Bluetooth using generators such as Tentacle Sync. As a result, DaVinci Resolve can align angles for easy multicam editing.

Advanced formats and monitoring options

Shoot in H.264 or H.265 on mobile devices, with audio in AAC, IEEE Float, or PCM when supported. Monitor with 3D LUTs or bake a look into the recording, and enable log capture on supported models. Blackmagic Camera also allows you to apply anamorphic de-squeeze, use image stabilization, and set rack focus.

Flexible framing and media control

Choose landscape 16:9 or vertical orientation, with guides for 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, and cinema ratios such as 1.85 and 2.39. Manage media inside the Blackmagic Camera app, pick which clips upload to the cloud, or record directly into an existing Resolve project. Therefore, you keep projects organized from capture to edit.

Blackmagic Camera compatibility notes

Blackmagic Camera feature availability depends on your device. Maximum resolution and frame rates, image stabilization, 3D LUT monitoring, and log capture vary by model and chipset. Apple ProRes is available on iOS only, while Android uses H.264 or H.265. External SSDs, external microphones, and HDMI monitoring support can differ between devices and accessories.

Blackmagic Camera resources and workflows

For a complete user guide and tips, visit the official Blackmagic Design page below. You can import 3D LUTs stored on your device for monitoring or choose to bake a look into recordings when supported. For multicam events, use Bluetooth timecode generators such as Tentacle Sync to lock cameras, then use the Sync Bin in DaVinci Resolve to review and line up angles automatically.

How to use Blackmagic Camera

The steps below cover a basic solo shoot and an optional multicam setup. You can follow them to capture, collaborate and start editing with proxies right away.

  1. Download Blackmagic Camera APK from APKPure, open the app, and create a project. Choose landscape or vertical framing and set a project name that matches your edit.

  2. Set the resolution and frame rate that match your deliverable. Pick your codec, select the back or front camera, set audio input, and adjust input levels while watching the meters.

  3. After that, prepare exposure and focus. Enable zebra or false color, set white balance, adjust shutter and ISO, turn on focus assist, and choose a 3D LUT for monitoring if needed.

  4. Then sign in to Blackmagic Cloud and enable proxy recording and upload. Choose which clips to upload automatically, or mark specific takes for transfer to your Resolve project.

  5. So you can run multicam, join the remote control screen, and connect all devices on the same Wi Fi. Pair a Bluetooth timecode generator such as Tentacle Sync, confirm sync, check multiview, and start recording.
