Yemi Eberechi Alade, born March 13, 1989 in Abia, Nigeria, more simply known as Yemi Alade, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and singer afropop. His notoriety has taken on a continental and international importance especially with his single Johnny.

Yemi Eberechi Alade was born on March 13, 1989, in the state of Abia, Nigeria1. His father James Alade is of Yoruba origin, his mother Helen Uzoma is of Igbo2,3 origin. She is the fifth in a family of seven children. After a childhood in different places according to the assignments of his father, police commissioner, his family moved to Lagos as a teenager2. "I grew up listening to everything from Sunny Adé juju music to Whitney Houston," she says. She studied and pursued graduate studies in geography at the University of Lagos4.
