Sustainable Milk Hygiene Training Model for Safe Milk and Safe Future

Milk, which is a fundamental food for humans, an important economic value for our producers and our country, is one of the largest liquid categories consumed in the world.

As in the whole world, the importance of quality and reliable food production in our country is increasing. Food safety in milk and dairy products is also the most important quality criterion. Food safety for these products starts at the livestock enterprises where raw milk production is made, and continues until the time when the milk is processed through the milk processing steps.

The milk sector has an important place in the country's economy as well as in protecting public health and food safety in terms of consumption rates and areas of assessment. In our country, the general structure and character of the dairy industry have changed over the years and gradually took its place in the sector with the technological developments of large and modern enterprises which have been stripped from the traditional structure. Quality milk production has great importance both in terms of value in human life and its place in agricultural production. Animal products, the consumption of milk and dairy products in it is very important in terms of healthy and balanced nutrition.

With the result of production levels, importance of the milk hygiene and identification of problems and needs in Dairy Sector in Aydın which is 6th in Turkey in the annual milk production; Aydin Provincial Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Aydin Governorate EU and External Relations Bureau, ADÜ Faculty Veterinary Medicine, ÖRKOOP Nazilli and Vicinity Agricultural Development Cooperative, Netherlands - Dairy Training Centre and the Association of Private Farming of the Czech Republic prepared "Sustainable Milk Hygiene Training Model for Safe Milk and Safe Future" Project.

The project took part in 26 projects to be supported by Turkish National Agency for Strategic Partnership for Vocational Education Program Erasmus+ Key Action 2 (KA2) for which 206 applications were made.

The project started on the 1st of November 2015 and ended on the 31st of October 2017.
