Tomoya Aki, an otaku, has been obsessed with collecting anime and light novels for years, attaching himself to various series with captivating stories and characters. Now, he wants to have a chance of providing the same experience for others by creating his own game, but unfortunately, Tomoya cannot do this task by himself.

He successfully recruits childhood friend Eriri Spencer Sawamura to illustrate and literary elitist Utaha Kasumigaoka to write the script for his visual novel, while he directs. Super-group now in hand, Tomoya only needs an inspiration to base his project on, and luckily meets the beautiful, docile Megumi Katou, who he then models his main character after.

Using what knowledge he has, Tomoya creates a new doujin circle with hopes to touch the hearts of those who play their game. What he does not realize, is that to invoke these emotions, the creators have had to experience the same feelings in their own lives.

Eriri Spencer Sawamura

Tomoyo Aki's Japanese-British childhood friend. Popular, intelligent, and elegant. She's a well known figurehead amongst her peers (along with Kasumigaoka Utaha). A naturally gifted artist who holds accolades under her name from a young age. But behind closed doors, her maniac side is shown and the tsundere side takes form.

Joins in Aki's efforts even though he "wastes her time with such a retarded project."

Megumi Katou

The girl in the summer dress Tomoya Aki meets during "fate's summons." After meeting her, Tomoya is inspired to make a Dating-sim game, making her the Main Heroine. However, he is initially disappointed in her real personality.

Although Tomoya undisputedly declares that he is in love with her, he cannot for the life of himself figure out what exactly about her bland, generic character he fell in love with.

Megumi is an extremely normal girl, to the point that Tomoya didn't realize that he was classmates with her. She is also very stealthy, and people forget that she is in the same room.
