Power from coal is expected to maintain its position until viable dispatchable

alternatives are established in the market. Many technologies are fully

developed, and many are under development. Net zero is supposed to be

the combination of all these solutions. The biggest puzzle in current times is

the optimal mix of all such solutions without compromising energy security or affordability of power for all. Indigenization, sustainability, socio-economic

development, minimal disruption, and geo-political aspects are also of

paramount importance in the journey of India’s just energy transition. The

best utilization case for available technologies is an area of detailed

deliberation in the current scenario. The bigger challenge is the selection of

suitable technologies based on indigenous resource assessment as well as

the framing of suitable policies to achieve the above objectives.
