Immediately informed with an NL-Alert message

The Ministry of Justice and Security has identified a data breach in the new NL-Alert app. This has been reported to the Dutch Data Protection Authority. Via the NL-Alert app, location data of users and possibly other personal data such as information about the operating system and other installed apps, have ended up with an external service without the users' permission. The data breach can be closed by installing this update or removing the app. The app will no longer send push notifications after the update. The ministry recommends removing the app.

The NL-Alert app has been developed on behalf of the Ministry of Justice and Security, in collaboration with the Security Regions. It is one of the alerts that are used by the Dutch government to warn you in case of serious incidents and to offer action advice. The NL-Alert app sends you a message in the event of a serious incident in your vicinity. In addition, the app offers the possibility to also set NL-Alerts for certain preferred locations and shows an overview of the NL-Alerts from the past 7 days. Also read in the NL-Alert app how you can prepare for emergencies and emergencies such as influenza epidemics, radiation incidents and major fires. Pay attention! Do not disable the emergency notifications on your phone if you have installed the NL-Alert app. The app supplements the standard notification via the emergency notifications on your phone.
