2025-02-21
The February 2025 update for Squad Busters has introduced a plethora of exciting new features and balance changes, enhancing the gameplay experience for its community. Below is a comprehensive overview of the key elements included in this update.
Maintenance Time
The maintenance for Squad Busters, which took place on February 19, 2025, has officially concluded, allowing players to dive back into the game. This maintenance was crucial for addressing several issues that arose following the introduction of the new Hatchling Run mode, which is the game’s first player versus environment (PvE) experience.
Players can now enjoy the new features and improvements introduced in this update, including balance changes for various heroes and new brawler skins. The developers also announced an optional update that will address issues related to the Choice Chest displaying maxed characters incorrectly.
Hatchling Run Mode
Hatchling Run is a temporary game mode where teams of up to three players work together to rescue hatchlings while defending against waves of AI-controlled monsters. Here’s a breakdown of how the mode functions:
- Objective: The primary goal is to gather hatchlings that appear across the map and bring them back to a designated area known as the Coop. Players must fend off 10 waves of attacking monsters that threaten the Coop, requiring teamwork and strategy.
- Gameplay Mechanics: Each match begins with players receiving a pre-set lineup of 15 units, which they must use throughout the event. Unlike traditional matches, players cannot freely select their units, making it crucial to adapt strategies based on the available characters. The gameplay emphasizes quick decision-making and coordination among team members.
- Waves of Monsters: As players progress through the waves, they must eliminate monsters efficiently. Completing waves quickly not only protects the Coop but also grants additional time to collect more hatchlings before the next wave arrives.
- Rewards: Successfully rescuing hatchlings converts them into Gems at the end of each match. These Gems can be used in the in-game shop to purchase new Veggie Skins for popular characters like Colt, Bea, and Trader.
- Team Strategy: Effective communication and collaboration are essential. Players are encouraged to choose teammates wisely and select a balanced lineup that can handle various threats posed by the monster waves.
New Brawlers Skins
Alongside the introduction of Hatchling Run, the February update features exciting new skins for brawlers. Players can look forward to exclusive Veggie Skins that add a fun visual twist to their favorite characters during gameplay. These skins not only enhance aesthetics but also serve as rewards for participating in the Hatchling Run mode.

Speed and Damage Buffs:
- Classic Crab Rage: Speed increased from +35% to +50% and DPS from +51% to +60%.
- Super Crab Rage: Speed boosted from +35% to +65% and DPS from +46% to +68%.
- Ultra Crab Rage: Speed enhanced from +35% to +80% and DPS from +53% to an impressive +100%.
These changes ensure that as Dr. T evolves, both his speed and attack capabilities improve significantly, making him a more formidable choice in battles.
Nita
Nita's basic attack has been improved:
- Attack Range: Increased from 2.5 tiles to 4.0 tiles (+60%), allowing her to connect with enemies more effectively.
- This adjustment aligns her with other popular ranged characters such as Colt and Shelly, enhancing her viability in various matchups.
Royal King
The Royal King has also seen improvements:
Royal Recruit Spawns: The number of recruits summoned has been increased from 3-6 to 4-6 at lower levels, maintaining the same cap as before. This change allows for greater troop deployment during matches, benefiting players who utilize Royal King in their strategies.
Witch
Witch’s Elite Skeletons have received substantial buffs:
Health and Damage: The health of Elite Skeletons has risen from 350 to 600 (+71%), making them more resilient and effective in combat.
These enhancements make the Witch's Elite Skeletons a more valuable asset during battles, compensating for their previously short lifespan.
Hero Nerfs
Barbarian (Ultimate)
The Baby Elite Barbarian has been slightly nerfed:
- HP Reduction: Decreased from 2,050 to 1,650 (-20%), aligning its power level with other Ultimate characters.
- This change aims to balance the overall competitive landscape by reducing the survivability of this character.
Hog Rider
The Hog Rider's Turbo boost ability has been adjusted:
- Grass Boost Duration: Reduced from 2.3 seconds to 1.5 seconds (-35%). This nerf affects how long players can benefit from the boost after leaving grass areas, making timing more crucial for effective use.
Hero Reworks
Barbarian King (Super Rage)
The Barbarian King has undergone a rework that modifies his Super Rage ability:
- Damage Buff Reduction: The damage increase has been reduced from +100% to +60% (-40%).
- Duration Increase: The duration of Super Rage has been extended from 8 seconds to 10 seconds (+25%).
- This adjustment aims to balance the power of Super Rage while maintaining its strategic value in gameplay.
Spell Balance Changes
Several spells have undergone reworks:
- Mega Potion: This spell will now spawn at varying frequencies during Showdown matches, with a new mechanic discouraging camping by preventing healing if players stand on spawning platforms.
- Additionally, the Loot Surge Modifier has been adjusted to provide slightly less loot, improving performance across different devices.
New Maps
The February update introduces new maps that expand the game’s environments:
- Beach World: Frontline Reef
- Ice World: Thunder Glacier
- Lava World: The Lavadrome
- Spooky World: Brambled Shallows
These new settings are designed to enhance strategic gameplay by providing diverse terrains for battles.
Other Changes

- Chest System Improvements: The Star Chest system has been revamped, allowing players more control over which characters they wish to evolve. The probability of receiving maxed troops from chests has been reduced significantly from 17% to 5%.
- Tutorial Rewards Reduction: Rewards for beginner tasks have been lowered, aiming to balance the early-game experience.
- Matchmaking Improvements: Players may now occasionally be matched into worlds that they haven’t unlocked yet, enhancing the competitive aspect of the game.
