In February, the 2023 season of Pokémon UNITE esports kicked off. Monthly qualifying tournaments began during this time and as the competitive events progressed, the game gradually built up to its climactic showdown. The grand finale of Pokémon UNITE Esports for 2023 will be held in Yokohama, Japan and is known as the Pokémon UNITE World Championship.
As part of the World Championship series, four Pokémon esports games (Pokémon TCG, Pokémon VGC, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE) will conclude their journey in 2023. Among these titles is also Pokémon UNITE, which will participate in the event.
The Pokémon UNITE World Championship 2023 is scheduled to begin on August 11th, 2023 and conclude on the following day. Thirty-one teams will compete for a chance to win a portion of $500,000 in prize money and be crowned as the Pokémon UNITE World Champion.
Pokémon UNITE World Championship 2023 Schedule Announced (Group Stage)
The Pokémon UNITE World Championship 2023 will start on August 11th and conclude on August 12th. It consists of two parts to determine the top team in the world. Firstly, there is a group stage where 31 teams are divided into eight groups. They will compete against each other in a round-robin format with matches held as best-of-three games (BO3). The winners from each group will advance to the playoffs.
The playoffs will consist of a double elimination bracket where teams compete in best-of-three matches, except for the finals which will be best-of-five. The winner of the upper bracket quarterfinals advances to the upper bracket semifinals, and two winning teams from there move on to the upper bracket finals. Conversely, the victor of the lower bracket finals proceeds to the grand finals.
