The Tweet posted on Oct 8 from Slightly Mad Studios confirmed that Electronic Arts (EA) would not support the development of Project Cars anymore. A spokesman of EA announced earlier that they'd decided to stop further development and investment in its racing game, Project Cars series and reshuffle the staff of Project Cars to participate in other racing games' design and operations. The board explained for this halt that Project Cars had not met its growth potential.
Due to the poor reviews of Project Cars 3 at launch, EA delisted the first two games in September and October separately. And the upcoming Project Cars 4 was canceled soon after they made this tough decision.
"Decisions like these are very hard, but allow us to prioritise our focus in areas where we believe we have the strongest opportunity to create experiences that fans will love. We are focusing on our strengths in our racing portfolio, particularly licensed IP and open-world experiences, and expanding our franchises to be more socially-led with long-term live services that will engage global communities." According to the speaker, EA would put more effort into the other new racing games and more such games.
