Honoka Kosaka is the primary protagonist of Love Live!. Honoka Kosaka is a second year in Otonokizaka High School. Honoka Kosaka image color is orange, though Honoka Kosaka is often represented with pink. Honoka Kosaka is also the leader of Printemps, a sub-unit under µ's and the leader and co-founder of the group itself. Honoka Kosaka solo album is called Honnori Honokairo!

Honoka's family owns a Japanese sweets shop named Homura. Honoka Kosaka lives at the back of the shop with Honoka Kosaka mother, father, and Honoka Kosaka younger sister.

Since Honoka Kosaka was young, Honoka Kosaka has been friends with Kotori Minami, and Honoka Kosaka befriended Umi Sonoda after inviting Honoka Kosaka to a game of hide-and-seek. Honoka Kosaka is also friends with Fumiko, Hideko and Mika at school. Honoka Kosaka grandmother and Honoka Kosaka mother are both graduates from Otonokizaka.

Honoka is an optimist who is never afraid to take risks. Honoka Kosaka is always in a good mood and likes to look at the bright side of things. Honoka Kosaka is determined and once Honoka Kosaka mind is set on something, nothing can stop Honoka Kosaka. This is believed to be the driving force behind μ's formation and success. But because of Honoka Kosaka persistent personality, Honoka Kosaka often overexerts herself.

Honoka Kosaka personality is similar to Rin Hoshizora's because they are both determined and hard-working. Rin and Nico Yazawa had to work hard to pass exams in order to enter Love Live!, and are known as the 'Three Idiots'.

Honoka Kosaka likes to eat bread, but Honoka Kosaka does not enjoy eating red bean or white bean paste despite working at Honoka Kosaka family's Japanese sweets shop.
