Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell that help your body’s immune system fight off an infection. Lymphocytes are divided into T-cells, B-cells, and natural killer cells. B-cells produce antibodies that attack invading viruses, bacteria, or toxins, while T-cells attack your own cells that have become compromised. Since lymphocytes help attack an infection, they decrease in number if you’ve been ill or have exhausted your system.
