About Google Meet

Google Meet is a video calling app that supports secure meetings for work, school, and personal use.

Google Meet helps users stay connected through reliable video calls when in-person meetings are not possible. It brings people together for quick catchups, remote classes, and team check-ins, and it works across phones and browsers so you can join from different devices. Because it integrates with Google Workspace, scheduling and follow-ups can stay in one place. If you prefer to install the Google Meet APK, the core experience remains consistent across supported devices.

Google Meet features you can use

Join from anywhere

You can start or join a meeting from the Android app, from iOS, or from a modern browser without installing anything. Joining by link or meeting code is supported, and you can also enter from Gmail or Calendar. An optional desktop PWA is available if you want an app-like window on your computer.

Clear video and audio

Google Meet supports video up to 1080p on capable devices and networks. It adjusts for low light automatically and reduces background noise to help others hear you better. On eligible plans, studio look, sound, and lighting settings give hosts more control over appearance and clarity.

Understand across languages

Live captions help participants follow the conversation in real time. Translated captions are available in more than sixty five languages for global meetings. With premium options, Gemini in Meet can take notes for you, support speech to speech translation, and summarize action items so everyone knows next steps.

Built for collaboration

You can present your screen to share documents or apps while you talk. Meet works with Docs, Sheets, and Slides so you can present and discuss in the same flow. Chat is available in every call, and on select plans you can use tools like polls, Q and A, breakout rooms, and host moderation controls.

Engagement and shared activities

Google Meet lets you react with effects, filters, backgrounds, and emoji to keep sessions interactive. Live Sharing allows participants to watch YouTube, listen to music, or play supported games together during a call. Some Live Sharing activities require an active YouTube Premium membership to use.

Security and scale

Meetings are encrypted by default and include host controls and anti abuse protections. The free tier supports up to one hundred participants and group calls up to sixty minutes. Premium plans extend capacity and duration and add features like recordings and transcripts.

Before you download Google Meet

The free option supports up to one hundred participants with group calls up to sixty minutes. Paid plans can enable recordings, transcripts, meeting durations up to twenty four hours, and larger meetings with up to one thousand participants. Features such as studio effects, advanced moderation, Gemini note taking, and expanded translation are available on eligible plans and accounts.

Device and access notes for Google Meet

You can join meetings from Android or iOS apps or from a supported web browser without installing software. If needed, an optional desktop PWA offers a native style window on computers. Integration with Google Workspace helps with scheduling and follow up, and some Live Sharing features may require YouTube Premium. These access options give flexibility before starting a Google Meet app download on your phone.

How to use Google Meet on Android

  1. Open the app, sign in, and allow camera and microphone permissions when prompted so others can see and hear you.

  2. To join a call, tap Join and enter the meeting code or use a link from email or calendar. To start a new call, tap New and choose the meeting type.

  3. Before entering, check your video and audio. Then tap Join to enter the meeting room.

  4. If you need to share something, tap Present to show your screen. Use Chat to send messages while people are speaking.
