The 2022 World Cup is the culmination of the 22nd edition of the World Cup, a quadrennial international football competition, in which 32 national football teams (men) from the International Football Association Board will compete. This tournament will be the first time the World Cup will be held in an Arab country and it will also be the second World Cup to be held in Asia after the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan.

It is the last edition of the 32-team World Cup; The 48-team World Cup will be held from 2026 to be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Due to Qatar's intense summer heat, the tournament will be held from 20 November to 18 December 2022 across 8 venues in 5 cities in Qatar, making it the first tournament not to be held in May, June or July and in the northern autumn;

It will be held for a period of about 29 days. The first match of the tournament will be played between Qatar and Ecuador at the Al Bait Stadium in Al Khor. On the other hand, the final is scheduled to be held on Qatar National Day on 18th December 2022.
