Code Civil Français (Code Civil de la République française. Entry into force: March 21, 1804) - is a document that brings together the rules related to civil law in France. The Civil Code therefore governs the status of people and property as well as private relations between citizens. In France, it is also nicknamed "Napoléon Code" and was promulgated on March 21, 1804 by Napoleon Bonaparte and developed by the parliamentarians Tronchet, Portalis, Bigot de Préameneu and Maleville.
